Lampang Fossil Museum Unveils New “Prehistoric Animals of Lanna” Exhibition

Lampang, Thailand – The Fossil, Geology, and Natural History Museum in Lampang has launched a new exhibition, “Prehistoric Animals of Lanna,” showcasing fossil discoveries of ancient creatures that once lived in northern Thailand millions of years ago.

The exhibition highlights significant fossils, including:
🔹 Stegodon (Prehistoric Elephant) – An ancient ancestor of modern Asian elephants that roamed northern Thailand.
🔹 Lanna Herbivorous Dinosaurs – Fossils of plant-eating dinosaurs discovered in Lampang and nearby provinces.
🔹 Prehistoric Mammals – Fossils of ancient mammals such as prehistoric rhinoceroses and deer.
🔹 Ancient Fossilized Forests – Evidence of prehistoric forests and ancient ecosystems.

In addition to the exhibition, the museum offers interactive activities, including:

• Fossil Digging Activity – A hands-on experience for children to excavate simulated fossils.
• Prehistoric Animal Model Workshop – Create replicas of Stegodon and Lanna dinosaurs.
• Special Talk: “Lampang During the Age of Dinosaurs” – A discussion by fossil researchers on northern Thailand’s discoveries.
• Natural Fossil Exploration Trail – A guided tour to real fossil excavation sites in Lampang.
